How to upload a video directly to YouTube from Clipchamp

Applies To
Clipchamp for personal accounts

Note

The information in this article applies to the Clipchamp video editor for personal accounts. Direct YouTube upload isn't available in the Clipchamp video editor for work and school.

When your video is ready to share, you can use Clipchamp's free YouTube integration to upload it directly to your channel. Follow the steps below to connect your account and upload your video.

Before you start, make sure the Google account you want to use has a YouTube channel. A Google account without a channel can't upload videos.

Step 1. Export your video

  1. When you've finished editing, select Export in the editor.

  2. In the Export video dialog, choose a video quality, such as 1080p, and then select Export. Video quality options export an MP4 file. The YouTube integration isn't available for GIF or audio-only exports.

  3. Wait for the export to finish. Select Save to your computer to keep a local copy in case you need to upload it manually.

Step 2. Connect your YouTube account

1. On the export page, select Save to YouTube. Depending on your export settings, it might be under More sharing options.

  2. Select Connect to YouTube. If your intended account is already connected, go to Step 3.

  3. Follow Google's prompts to sign in with the account you want to use. If you're asked to choose a YouTube channel, select the channel you want to upload to.

  4. Review the permissions Google requests and continue if you agree to grant access. This connects YouTube for uploads. It doesn't change how you sign in to Clipchamp.

If Save to YouTube isn't available, or you'd rather not connect accounts, select Save to your computer and upload the MP4 using YouTube Studio instead.

Step 3. Add video details to upload to YouTube

  1. Review the Title, which starts with your Clipchamp project name, and enter your video's description, category, and keywords. Separate keywords with commas.

  2. Under Video Privacy, choose Public, Private, or Unlisted. For help choosing, see YouTube's video privacy settings.

  3. Answer Is this video made for kids? by choosing Yes, it's made for kids or No, it's not made for kids. If you're unsure, read YouTube's audience guidance.

  4. Select Upload and keep Clipchamp open until the upload finishes.

When the upload finishes, Clipchamp displays the video's link and a Copy link button. YouTube may still need time to process the video before it's ready to watch.

Before sharing, open YouTube Studio and confirm the video's audience and visibility settings. Make any needed changes there, even if you already selected these options in Clipchamp.
